My wife had been to Paignton on holiday a few times and I had been there once but that was over 40 year’s ago. Neither of us had been to Torquay, but we decided to start our holiday in Torquay mainly because of our love of Fawlty Towers. After we booked we found out that, although Fawlty Towers is set in Torquay, it was actually filmed at Wooburn Grange Country Club in Bourne End, Buckinghamshire. It caught fire in 1991 and has since been demolished. W e booked into the Imperial Hotel in Torquay for three nights.
